Chañar Punco is located in the Calchaquí Valleys in the province of Catamarca in northwestern Argentina. This remote region sits at approximately 6,000 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest altitude winemaking regions in Argentina. Temperatures are colder with increasing altitude, resulting in a slow ripening process that retains the grape's acidity while developing concentrated flavors. Its temperate, arid climate with very little rainfall, combined with its stony soils, results in Malbec with concentrated flavors of red fruits, violets, herbs, and licorice, structured tannins, and great aging potential.
