Single vineyards

The term “single vineyard” refers to a wine that has been made from grapes harvested from only one vineyard site. Most wines are made from a blend of multiple vineyards, since one area might be warmer and produce grapes with higher sugar content, while another can be cooler, with grapes with higher acid content. The grapes for a single vineyard wine have been isolated from others due to their special characteristics and quality. These special sites usually have a combination of factors that distinguish them from others around it, like soil composition, water quality, sun exposure, temperature variance, and topographical elements. Creating wine from only one vineyard can be risky since weather conditions can vary greatly from year to year. Therefore, single vineyard wines usually carry a higher price tag.
