Founded in 1871, El Molino is one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley and remains family owned and operated. Its name makes reference to the grain mill founded in 1843 in Napa, a time when its economy depended greatly on wheat flour.
El Molino specializes in the limited production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using traditional winemaking techniques. The vineyard location in a cooler pocket of Rutherford makes it ideal to produce both grapes, allowing the fruit to reach peak ripeness while maintaining bright acidity.
The Chardonnay is bursting with flavors of grapefruit, lemon, and a touch of floral notes and toast. While it is unusual to find a Pinot Noir from Rutherford, El Molino has perfected the production of this grape, giving us an elegant wine with aromas of red fruit, subtle baking spices, and a hint of oak.
Both wines showcase El Molino's dedication to precision and balance, a tradition passed down through generations. With each sip, one can taste the history and craftsmanship that define El Molino Winery, making it a cherished gem in the tapestry of Napa Valley's wine culture.
